DESCRIPTION
Created by renowned modernists Massimo Vignelli (American b. in Italy, 1931) and Lella Vignelli (American b. in Italy, 1934), this pristine glass double old-fashioned was originally conceived in 1979 as part of a larger design commission for an Italian hotel chain, which included furnishings and interiors. At lunch in Venice, Massimo Vignelli was asked by his client to describe the new glassware: Vignelli pointed across the Grand Canal to the beautiful ribbed domes of the Church of Santa Maria della Salute, and said, “Just like that but upside down.” Their graceful, lightweight design is masterful in its geometric simplicity. Rounded ribs catch and reflect light, bringing an inviting and celebratory sparkle to the glass.
