Head of a Youth in Bonded Bronze
Description
Our bonded bronze reproduction is based on a first-century A.D. Roman cast-bronze head that is now in the Israel Museum.
Produced in cooperation with the Israel Museum, Jerusalem.
Bonded bronze. Hand patinated. 8 1/2''H x 3 1/2''W x 3 1/4''D.
Sorry, gift wrap is not available for this item.
- Hand patinated
- 8 1/2''H x 3 1/2''W x 3 1/4''D
- Gift wrap not available
- Bonded Bronze
Art History
The original Roman cast bronze head with a mottled brown and green patina was part of a small statue about 25 inches high. Although probably a Roman work of the first century A.D., the head recalls Greek prototypes of the fourth century B.C.; such finds of Roman art are uncommon in Israel, and the statuette probably comes from one of the major Roman centers such as Beth Shean or Samaria.
