2012 Miniature Star Christmas Ornaments
Description
The designs of our three miniature star Christmas ornaments are based on an original object in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The ornament with eight pointed loops is derived from the painted and gilded decoration on a ceramic bowl from twelfth–thirteenth century Persia. The ornament with petal-like points is taken from a chromolithograph of Renaissance motifs by artist Albert Charles Auguste Racinet (French, 1825–1895), published in
L’Ornement Polychrome, 1869. The rounded ornament with eight extended points is adapted from a medieval stained-glass window motif in
L’Ornement Polychrome, 1869.
