For nearly four decades, the Museum has offered collectible silver snowflake ornaments with a new design every year. Continue your own tradition, or start a collection for a loved one with this year's gleaming snowflake ornament. The Museum’s 2012 Snowflake Christmas Ornament is based on a design drawing found in a nineteenth- century album created by jeweler Edgar Simpson (British, 1867– 1945) in the Department of Drawings and Prints.

Art HistoryBound in tooled and gilded leather, Edgar Simpson's (British, 1867–1945) album created in 1899 contains 34 pages of original jewelry designs in the Art Nouveau style. With their sinuous lines and curling foliage, Simpson’s imaginative designs for brooches, pendants, and other adornments display the essence of this influential decorative style, which reached its high point about 1900.
