Chrysanthemum Slim Fit Top

Description
The bright design of our chrysanthemum top is based on a postcard in the Museum’s large collection of Wiener Werkstätte (Viennese Workshops) postcards. Founded in 1903, the collective produced richly printed postcards to showcase its artists and promote their products. Among these cards, many of which are in the Museum’s Department of Drawings and Prints, is a color lithograph with a lush stylized floral pattern. This unique design was the source for our top.
Available in small, medium, large, and x-large. Polyester blend. Slim fit. Cap sleeves. Made in the USA. Machine washable.

Art History
In 1903, the Wiener Werkstätte, or Viennese Workshops, was founded amid the excitement and vitality of turn-of-the-century Vienna. A designers’ cooperative based on the principles of the Arts and Crafts movement, the workshops strove to provide a wide range of well-designed, often handmade products for a sophisticated audience. Its rectilinear functional style —based on meticulous proportions and restrained detail—was seen as an antidote to excessively ornate traditional forms.
