These wonderful bronze objects include a group of miniature bronze replicas of armor, such as greaves (shin guards) and shields, said to come from Vulci, an ancient city north of Rome. Similar bronze miniatures are often found in votive contexts and may represent an offering of thanks for a successful return from military duties. Also serving as the inspiration for our jewelry is an elliptical bronze leaf-shaped disc, possibly a waist ornament.
Celebrating the simplicity and textured patinas of these intriguing bronze objects from ancient Italy. Made expressly for The Met by Sibilia.
