The Museum’s collection includes a striking gold earring from Persia (11th–13th century). It was originally fabricated out of sheets of gold and decorated with granulation, an exacting technique in which tiny gold granules are fused to the metal surface. This earring’s bold, ribbed beads and sophisticated design bear testament to the artistry of Persian metalsmiths. Our refined bracelet is adapted from this elegant ornament.
