Art History
Robert Lee Morris' (American, born Germany, 1947) distinctive pieces—which fuse organic forms, hand-workmanship, and a cutting-edge sensibility—are sought by connoisseurs worldwide. His first solo show was held in the early 1970s at Sculpture to Wear, a unique New York venue showcasing one-of-a-kind art jewelry. Since then, Morris’s bold, clean, sculptural designs have garnered prestigious awards including the Coty Award (1981) and two Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards (1985, 1994). A collaborator with some of the world’s leading couture designers, Morris was honored in 2007 with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award from CFDA.
