Description

The radiant design of our Russian Imperial Collection was inspired by the Renaissance Egg, which Czar Alexander III commissioned and presented to his wife, Maria Feodorovna, on Easter Sunday 1894. Peter Carl Faberg (Russian, 18461920) revolutionized the way jewelry was evaluated in Russia by emphasizing the design creativity and workmanship involved instead of just the value of the precious stones and metals.

Made expressly for the Metropolitan Museum in the United States.

24K gold overlay, hand enameled, made with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS. Hinged. Inner circumference: 6 3/4''. Box-and-tongue closure with safety.

Art History

The workshop of Peter Carl Faberg (Russian, 18461920) crafted beautiful objets d'art from precious metals and gems, including unique and highly detailed jeweled eggs created for czars Alexander III and Nicholas II of Russia. These delicate works of fantasy often memorialized important occasions in the reign of the imperial family. Among them, the Faberg Egg from which our bracelet is adapted.
