Created in eighteenth-century Naples by leading sculptors of the late Baroque era, the Museum’s crèche figures are made of painted terracotta, finely carved wood, exquisite fabrics, and other materials. The Holy Family is framed not by a stable but by a setting of columns inspired by a Roman temple ruin.
