Art HistoryIn 1872, when Peter Carl Fabergé (Russian, 1846-1920) was just 26, he took his father’s jewelry business in St. Petersburg. Cultivating the patronage of the last of the Romanov dynasty, Fabergé created pieces that were prized not only for the value of their jewels but also for the artistry of their craftsmanship. Delicate patterns from the Fabergé portfolio-notably, the jeweled Easter eggs commissioned by the Imperial Family-have been adapted for these elegant ornaments.
