William Morris Cloisonné Miniature Frames

Description
The lush designs of William Morris (British, 1834–1896) have enduring appeal, with their intricate patterns, rich interplay of colors, and graceful medieval motifs. Three Morris & Co. floral wallpaper designs from the Museum's collection—
Compton (1896),
Pink and Rose (1890), and
Wild Tulip (1884)—have been adapted for our beautiful frames, using the ancient technique of cloisonné enamel.
Set of 3 frames. Gold overlay, with wire and enamel. Includes easel backs. Gift boxed. Round: 4''diam. (photo size: 3'' diam.); rectangle: 4 1/2''H x 3 1/2''W (photo size: 2 3/8'' x 3 3/8''); square: 4 1/4'' square (photo size: 3'' square).

Art History
In 1861, William Morris (British, 1834–1896) co-founded an interior design firm (reorganized in 1875 as Morris & Co.) to design and produce a full range of household objects. A painstaking attention to detail, a taste for medieval legends and decorative motifs, and a reliance on organic forms distinguish the firm’s handcrafted works from objects that were mass- produced and widely available at the time.
