We gave this to our daughter 25 years ago and she loved it - decorated the inside walls of her closet with hieroglyphs. Thinking of ordering again for grandson, but the most recent review (1 year ago) is disappointing and probably scaring me (and others ) away. Please let us know if the quality and functionality issues have been corrected for this year’s product
I purchased two of these books for two 7 year olds and they found it fascinating. It encouraged them to get other books from the library on hieroglyphs and Egyptian history.
This will be a Christmas gift for an 8 year old. I expect he will use it with siblings and friends and maybe even great grandma. Will know how successful this is in a few months
I bought this as a present for my son. After trying to use the "rubber stamps" he commented: " What a rip off!" He was right. The rubber stamps are not made of rubber but of a hard plastic that does not absorb ink so it cannot leave any imprint. The "ink" is by no means an ink used for stamps but you have no way of seeing this through the packed product. As we opened the box, two stamps were already in pieces (the glue did not hold them together) and the labels were half peeled off. Good idea of a product but don't disappoint a kid by giving it as a present.
I gifted this to my nine year old grandson. Nearly the second he opened it he was making messages and explaining ancient Egypt to his five year old brother. Great fun & a definite keeper.
We purchased this book for our six year old grandaughter who has an insatiable curiosity. We believe she will find hours of learning pleasure writing all kinds of messages in hieroglyphs.
I bought this for my sons 20 years ago. It gave them a concept about another way of writing. So this time I bought it for a friend's 6-year old daughter. She brought it to her Kindergarten's 'Toy Day' (Sweden), a day every month when the children can bring in a favourite toy and talk about it. In the midst of soft animals and bricks, my friend's daughter brought Fun with Hieroglyphics and held a short lecture on the Egyptians. The other kids spellbound. So, a great success for her.
