A design with direction. Our cuff links suggest two ancient earthenware roof-tile end in The Met collection, originally made during China’s Western Han dynasty (206 B.C.–A.D. 9). Connecting to a half-cylindrical tile, such round pieces were used to cover the eaves of building roofs in traditional Chinese architecture.
Both protective and ornamental, decorative tile-ends reached a peak of technical excellence during the Han dynasty. Our cuff link designs are decorated with animals that symbolize two of the four cardinal directions: the White Tiger of the West and the Red Bird of the South.
