Our Love Paperweight is adapted from Robert Indiana's (American, b. 1928) 1970 steel sculpture titled LOVE
, in the collection of the Indianapolis Museum of Art. The word "love" is central to a number of Indiana's paintings and sculptures, often constituting the entire composition, with the capital letters L and O (often tipped to its side) sitting squarely over V and E. This image, which Indiana has described as a reference to God's love, was quickly appropriated as an American icon promoting "peace and love."
