Known for his humorous satires and social commentaries on modern life, Adolf Dehn (American, 1895-1968) concentrated as a young artist on printmaking before focusing his attention increasingly on watercolors starting in 1937. This delightful image is based on Avian Holiday (1953), a fanciful watercolor by Dehn, of whose several works are in the Museum's collection.
