Art HistoryThe painter-lithographer Adolf Dehn (American, 1895–1968) was known for his humorous satires and social commentaries on modern life. As a young artist, he concentrated on printmaking, creating over 600 lithographs before 1936; afterward, he focused increasingly on watercolor. While living in New York City, Dehn captured scenes from Harlem nightclubs, burlesque theaters, Central Park, and high society.
