For Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853–1890), oleanders were joyous life-affirming flowers that bloomed “riotously” and were “continually renewing” themselves. This candle, created expressly for the Museum by one of the world’s oldest candle manufacturers, founded in France in 1734, captures the exuberant colors and subtle fragrances of Van Gogh’s best-loved bloom. Made by hand in Normandy, this candle is packaged in a gift box that features an image of Oleanders
(1888), while the glass holder displays a quote by Van Gogh: “If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.”
