In 1861, William Morris (British, 1834�1896) co-founded an interior design firm (reorganized in 1875 as Morris & Co.) to design and produce a full range of household objects. A painstaking attention to detail, a taste for medieval legends and decorative motifs, and a reliance on organic forms distinguish the firm�s handcrafted works from objects that were mass-produced and widely available at the time.
