From Avenue to Zeppelin, this engaging alphabet book looks at New York City through the eyes of artists. Each letter features a place or experience in the capital of the world illustrated with multiple works, all from the Museum's collection.

The Brooklyn Bridge is seen in a Walker Evans photograph, a nineteenth-century print, and a watercolor by Dong Kingman. Harlem is depicted in a quilt by Faith Ringgold, a collage by Romare Bearden, and a painting by Jacob Lawrence. The Statue of Liberty appears in a vintage postcard, a 1930s photograph, and a Currier and Ives print.

All in all, over seventy-five paintings, prints, textiles, postcards, and photographs show Gotham as never seen before by a range of artists, including Childe Hassam, Georgia O'Keeffe, Rudy Burckhardt, Edward Hopper, and John Sloan.
