The design draws particular inspiration from the bold and monumental architecture of Francisco Salamone (1857– 1959), the Argentine architect who built more than 60 modern works in the pampas of Buenos Aires province from 1936–40, and whose futuristic output may itself owe a debt to Fitz Lang's landmark 1927 film, Metropolis. The brooch set was produced in a small atelier in Buenos Aires.
