Broad collars were most frequently worn by royalty, and among the Museum's collection of Egyptian jewelry from pharaoh Thutmose III is a broad collar of gold inlaid with carnelian, turquoise and blue glass. This particular piece is believed to be a gift to one of his wives. The Egyptian Lotus Necklace is based on the collar's design.
