Modern and chic, this sculptural necklace with spiraling, laser-cut leather evokes the distinctive ridged horns of a large antelope in the oryx family, which in 1969 was introduced into southern New Mexico as an exotic big game animal. The unique design also features copper tubing and lava-bead endings.
The necklace is from a contemporary jewelry collection crafted by the husband-and-wife team at Oropopo Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico. By combining innovative laser- cutting techniques with leather and other traditional materials, they create adornments inspired by the mythologies and iconography of the American Southwest.
