The unique design of our necklace is adapted from the intricate scrolling pattern on original gold beads in the Museum’s collection of Islamic art. The two delicate gold beads, created in Syria in the eleventh century, were fabricated from wire and strips of sheet gold, decorated with granulation. The pattern is reminiscent of the beveled style used during the ninth century. However, the medium utilized allowed for the meticulously defined lines on the beads.
