Our poster reproduces Claude Monet 's (French, 1840–1926) exquisite Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies of 1899. Monet was a key figure in the Impressionist movement that transformed French painting in the second half of the nineteenth century. As part of his extensive gardening plans at Giverny, Monet had a pond dug and planted with lilies in 1893. He first painted the subject in 1899, and thereafter it dominated his art. Monet’s water lilies paintings are among the most recognized and most adored works of art in the world.
