The decorative vocabulary of Art Nouveau is characterized by organic forms inspired by natureespecially sinuous tendrils and delicate flowersoften accentuated with asymmetrical whiplash curves and elaborate flourishes. The New Art movement originated in France and Belgium in the 1880s and reached a peak at the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris.
