Art HistoryBy the middle of the sixteenth century, the Ottomans enjoyed the status of a world power in a vast area extending from Eastern Europe to the Indian Ocean. Architecture, calligraphy, manuscript painting, textiles, and especially ceramics thrived under the Ottomans, who developed some of the finest ceramics ever produced in the Islamic world.
