Art HistoryFor his sculptures as well as for his paintings, Edgar Degas (French, 18341917) found a ready source of inspiration in the ballet dancers of the Paris Opéra. Fascinated by the dynamics of movement, the artist created a series of works depicting various positions of dance, such as the arabesque position.
