Description

In the collection of the New-York Historical Society is a bronze statuette of Abraham Lincoln that Gutzon Borglum (American, 18671941) made in 1912. It may have been a competition model for the statue of Lincoln for Cincinnatis Lytle Park. Though Borglum was not awarded that commission, the statuette magnificently captures the distinctive features of the presidents face. The Metropolitan Museums sculptural reproduction program, arguably the finest in the world, has used laser-scanning technology to precisely reproduce the original in bonded bronze, and the model has then been patinated by hand by an artist. Reproduced in cooperation with the New- York Historical Society.

Bonded bronze, hand patinated. 5 1/2''W x 6''D x 11''H.
