Our beaded shawl is adapted from a velvet evening jacket (ca. 1890) from the House of Worth. This splendid garment, which is decorated with extraordinary jet beadwork embroidery, alludes to the silhouette and the sumptuous quality of men’s formal dress of the previous century.

England, 1825–1895), whose Paris shop was a source of extravagant evening ensembles.
