Designed for creative use in the classroom, this dramatically boxed resource brings together representative masterworks of twentieth-century art from the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and wide ranging ideas for their presentation to students of all ages. Included are a looseleaf binder in which 31 paintings are reproduced in color along with notes about the work and strategies for discussion, writings by selected artists and selected related poetry, a chronology of events of the twentieth century, and suggestions for further reading. Teachers can use these materials to prepare students for a trip to the Metropolitan Museum or to a local institution with a similar collection, or to enrich the curriculum by bringing the Museum's collections into the classroom. The resource is suitable for students of all levels, from elementary school to college, and could be enjoyed by individuals as well.
