A woven cotton textile in The Met collection, originally designed by the Bauhaus designer Grete Reichhardt (German, 1907–1984), inspired our bold bow tie. Founded in 1919 in the city of Weimar by architect Walter Gropius, the Bauhaus was a utopian craft guild combining architecture, sculpture, painting, and applied arts and crafts into a single creative expression.
