Among several broad collars in the Museum is one from the tomb of the three foreign wives of Thutmose III (New Kingdom, Dynasty 18, ca. 1479–1425 B.C.). This ancient collar is made of gold, carnelian, obsidian, and glass. The king’s name is inscribed on the backs of the falcon-headed terminals, indicating that it was a gift from him to his wife. Our striking embellished tunic is based on this elegant original.
