The hieroglyphs on our Egyptian Hieroglyphs Folding Tote are adapted from the inscription on the lower portion of a funerary stela (ca. 1910 B.C.) for the treasurer Rehuerdjersen, commissioned by his brother about 40 years after his death. The inscription lists the names of Rehuerdjersen’s relatives, reflecting their pride in such an illustrious family member. The ancient Egyptians usually wrote a name with sound signs followed by either a seated man or woman hieroglyph, denoting, in the case of this stela, a male or female relative.
