Many types of glass were made during the Hellenistic period (ca. 323– 32 B.C.). Greek artisans developed innovative techniques, such as "slumping" viscous glass over a mold, and millefiori, in which rods of multicolored glass were sliced, arranged, and fused in a mold for a mosaic-like effect. These methods were used to produce luxury items for the elite, such as the prized glass tableware and perfume bottles in The Met's collection.
Handcrafted by American glass artist Michael Vincent Michaud. A graduate of the prestigious Corning glass program, Michaud specializes in unique jewelry accented with hand-cast glass elements.
