Very sturdy; we have used it for a few years in a row. It's a bit boring, though. There is a different angel each day but after a while, I stopped feeling motivated to open yet another angel. It would be more entertaining if there was a progression of a storyline.
I bought this a few years ago but never opened it before this year. I was initially frustrated that the angels wouldn't stay open and first tried taping them and they didn't stay; then using giant paper clips which worked but was a bit unsightly, and then once they were smaller and a paper clip didn't reach, I tried curling them back a little around a pencil or pen and that seems to working. It's beautiful--I didn't expect the scenes on each side to be so elaborate. I am ordering two more for gifts for next year.
I bought this several years ago and love it. Some of the negatives mentioned in above revies ae true but inconsequential. I have laced some tiny lights through it, they are timed, and it glows on no my coffee table every advent. The actual tree in the Met is one of my favorite things and this is a beautiful, memory provoking object that I love setting up every year. I tried to order one as a gift but it is out of stock.
I got so excited to see this at a friend’s house. I ordered a couple. Several days later, I get a cancellation. The website needs to be updated more quickly. As evidence of this, I get a request to do a review of a product that they cancelled the order on, two months later.
I bought this calendar for a friend but when I received it I realize that when you opened each day of Advent the Angels did not stand out on the calendar. I decided not to give it to her and kept it for myself. I wish that somehow when you opened each date the angel but stand out and not fall back unseen. I really love this tree I think it's gorgeous but this Advent calendar was disappointing.
I ordered this advent calendar for a friend in early November. When Advent started on Dec. 1st, I inquired when I would receive it. At that point I was told it was out of stock. Dealing with The Met was very disappointing.
Im getting these as pre advent gifts for some friends this year, they admired mine so much. I just love this advent calendar and I am sure you will agree its the best one ever. I highly reccomend this product and anything that the Met sells.
Very poor design - not able to securely get the tree to stay closed with the ribbons, can barely see the angels- they're in a folded window. I didn't mind the price as I intended to hold on to it for subsequent years, I'l probably tis it out
