Description

The spirited pattern on our scarf is based on an undated watercolor in The Met collection, which was created by the Bauhaus designer Gunta Stölzl (German, 1897–1983). The Bauhaus was a utopian craft guild founded in 1919 in the city of Weimar by architect Walter Gropius, where architecture, sculpture, painting, and applied arts and crafts were taught as a single creative expression. Stölzl became the master of the weaving workshop at the Bauhaus in 1925, one of the school's most successful departments.
