Description

Founded in 1919 in the city of Weimar by architect Walter Gropius, the Bauhaus was a utopian craft guild combining architecture, sculpture, painting, and applied arts and crafts into a single creative expression. A woven cotton textile in The Met collection, originally designed by the Bauhaus designer Grete Reichhardt (German, 1907–84), inspired our colorful men's scarf.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty but... the scarf was much lighter weight than I imagined it would be from looking at the photo in the catalog and considering it was made of wool. It was a gift for my brother-in-law and he seemed to like it. He put it on immediately but called it an "ascot." I really wanted a heavier scarf, but again, it's a very attractive weave. I probably wouldn't have paid full price for it, even before seeing it, but there was a 20% pre-Christmas discount which made my mind up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Restrained yet colorful This scarf is a nice light weight and the muted colors are appropriate for both men and women. I would have liked it a wee bit longer -- wrapping it twice around the neck leaves short ends -- but it's still wearable in several configurations. And because of the light weight, it's not just for outwear use. Oh, and it doesn't scream "museum art piece!" Suitable for gifting if you haven't already burdened a loved one with too many scarves.
