It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Well, almost. It’s July, so that means The Met Store’s annual Holiday Preview is here! This is your chance to get a sneak peek at our newest holiday offerings, including collectible art ornaments, holiday cards, 2027 art calendars, and more. (It’s also the perfect time to stock up and get ahead of the holiday season.)
Below we’ve rounded up five new designs that you won’t want to miss.
1. Pop-Up Holiday Cards
This year’s lineup of holiday cards takes season’s greetings to a whole new level, and that’s especially true when it comes to our brand-new pop-up holiday cards. Two of the cards feature illustrations (a Neapolitan angel and The Met’s famed Christmas tree display) by artist Yelena Bryksenkov, while the other pair reproduce two artworks in The Met collection—Central Park in Winter by Currier & Ives and an illustration of two frolicking deer from the Jefferson R. Burdick Collection.

2. Museum Favorites Advent Activity Countdown
If you’re a fan of our popular Museum Favorites Advent Countdown, you’re going to love this brand-new second edition. Just like the original, the latest version is sure to inspire artful anticipation for holiday season. In true Met fashion, the calendar is decorated with details from a charming vintage Christmas card (ca. 1952) in the Museum’s Burdick Collection of American ephemera. Inside perforated compartments for each day of December leading up to Christmas are individual envelopes of puzzle pieces, which come together to create 24 mini images of various Museum artworks and objects. The dates are randomized to ensure that each day reveals a Met surprise!

3. The Met Shoe Ornaments Inspired by Erté
Presented each holiday season since 1997, our collectible shoe ornaments are designed to dress up any tree or mantel. This year’s assortment comprises six fabulous pumps, each boasting striking Art Deco–inspired details. The pumps were designed by Delman’s Shoes, New York, while their likeness was drawn by Erté (Romain de Tirtoff, French, b. Russia, 1892–1990). Erté enjoyed a multifaceted career as a costume and set designer. He’s especially renowned for the magazine covers he created for Harper's Bazaar between 1915 and 1936. The Met houses an important collection of Erté's original gouaches, which exemplify his unparalleled Art Deco designs.

4. Met Roses Monthly Clothbound Calendar 2027
There are so many fantastic new art calendars for 2027, including engagement calendars, wall calendars, and pocket varieties, that it’s impossible to choose just one. But if you’re looking for a chic monthly art calendar, we’d suggest the beautiful Met Roses Monthly Clothbound Calendar 2027. The rose, with its intoxicatingly scented petals juxtaposed with thorny stems, has held a singular place in the cultural imagination for centuries. Our 2027 calendar highlights a selection of The Met’s most celebrated artworks featuring “the queen of flowers,” as the Greek poet Sappho (6th century BCE) famously dubbed it.
5. Annual Ornaments
It just wouldn’t be Holiday Preview without our much-loved annual ornaments. And did you know that this year marks the 55th anniversary of the annual ornament program? Our very first annual ornament, the snowflake, debuted way back in 1971. The following year, 1972, saw the arrival of our first-ever star ornament, and the two have been inseparable ever since.
This year’s edition of the star ornament borrows its distinctive geometric design from the eight-pointed stars decorating the lid and base of a medieval Spanish box, while the snowflake for 2026 takes its cues from a 19th-century horn, bone, and silk case, both in the Museum's holdings. As always, you can order the star and the snowflake ornaments in sterling silver as special family keepsakes.
