From pensive self-portraits to pioneering nature studies, chaotic biblical scenes to tranquil landscapes, Dürer’s trailblazing body of work both influenced and expanded the very scope of art. Read our blog post to learn more about how Dürer’s life and legacy continue to inspire us at The Met Store.

Depicted in silver foil is a delicate snow crystal inspired by the one captured around 1910 by Wilson Alwyn Bentley (American, 1865–1931). Bentley was a pioneer in the field of photomicrography and became the first photographer to immortalize a single snowflake.
