Description

Sleek and modern, this hairpin is the result of a collaboration between Brooklyn-based design studio Callidus Guild and Aesa jewelry of New York City. Their playful and spontaneous jewelry utilizes the traditional Japanese technique of yakisugi, a method that uses fire to char and naturally finish wood. Through recurring motions of mixing, hammering, blending, heating, tooling, and burnishing, the natural materials are reconfigured. This creative alliance took direct inspiration from visits to The Met, informing this rare collection of gold, bronze, and wooden jewels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lotta dollah for a stick! But you hafta admit that this is a special stick! Craftily artful oriental hair pin, with a modern vibe that makes it more 'art piece' and thus perhaps worth the heavy toll. I loved mine- it is simple and beautiful. You judge.
