Rated 3 out of 5 by from Maybe for older children This is a wonderful 3-D reproduction of the Met's beloved tree and creche.  However, as an Advent calendar for young children, it falls short.  The repro images are too small for a child to enjoy, and the "windows" for the days of Advent are hard to see and repetitive.  It's not enticing for a child to open yet another angel image, day after day. A design that utilized the richly varied human-interest and scriptural scenes at the base of the tree would be far more interesting than angel after angel.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Angel Tree Advent Calendar I have seen the Angel Tree "in person" and have had your book about it for many years, so maybe this product suffers in comparison. That being said, the "windows" cannot open (or stay open) in the tight spaces between "branches" of tree. The effect of angels suspended throughout the tree carries over very poorly into this product.  And for children, especially, there is little joy in opening a window that doesn't add to the display.  We have a really old MMA advent calendar that we've enjoyed for years; the windows hide small plastic figures (replicated museum collection items) that complete a 24 piece creche scene.  Enjoyable for all to revisit each year. It wouldn't be Advent without it.  This fact also contributes to my less than enthusiastic response to the 3D Advent Tree calendar, I'm sure.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lovely representation, however, not glued properly I purchased this early for my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter. I do wish I had opened it before i gave it to her as one of the sections of the tree was glued incorrectly - the tabs were crocked and not in far enough, half the white section showing. Also, in two others sections of the three the glue had dried and the tabs were loose and therefore would not hold. Re-gluging them is very difficult. The art work is wonderful and its an exciting centerpiece, but mis-glued and unglued tabs are a real distraction and frustration. I cannot add a photo as the item is 300 miles away from me at present.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed hard to see pictures of open windows Stands up pretty. Picture is on flap of window rather than on tree. Hard to see. No room to leave flap open due to design of calendar. All dark colors, so again hard to see. Was hoping to use for years. Will see if I can return it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great in Theory, Poor in Execution I loved the idea of a "replica" of the Met tree.  But this model had a number of problems that made it frustrating:  1.  The ribbon ties to hold it open are slippery and it was difficult to tie them tight enough that the tree would stay fully open.  I finally used a stapler.   2.  Most of the angels would not stay folded open.  I tried tacking them into place with a variety of 3-M double stick products, with marginal success. 3.  Strangely some of the angels near the top of the tree were so large they had to be bent in order to fit between the "branches"; whereas some of the angels near the bottom were quite small and didn't make any impression in the space. 4.  Why would you put the "door" for day 24 at the back of the tree? In defense of the design it was clear from the description that it was a tree full of angels, so those reviewers who were disappointed that it did not provide enough visual interest for children may have been expecting too much.  Perhaps the Victorian tree calendar which had ornaments which hung on the tree would have been a better choice for children, and that one will likely be my choice for next year if it is available.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too dark Cannot see images well.  And windows don't open far enough to see them

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Try as they may, can't beat shopping at the Met! Advent Calendars are everywhere, at my local supermarket, major department stores and the like, so I could have chosen to purchase one from any of these good establishments or, I thought to myself, I could choose to buy the Met Christmas Tree 3D Advent Calendar which will inspire my beautiful blue-eyed granddaughters. I obviously chose the latter - no contest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful! Please please re stock this item. It is a wonderful gift. I am confused by the negative reviews. Every person who has seen this calendar adores it and wants one. I can count 10 people! I have bought 5. My relatives in Australia have requested them also.
