A Ming dynasty (1368–1644) porcelain dish in The Met collection is the design source for our handsome decorative tray. The original dish features a lively floral pattern painted with colored enamels over a porcelain glaze; it has a Jiajing mark that dates it to the mid-16th century. This Ming dish is a fine example of Jingdezhan ware, from a major ceramics center in southern China that was once the site of the imperial kilns.
