These dazzling earrings recall a similar pair in the Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Made in the mid-1950s by the jewelry company Marcel Boucher, the original earrings comprise three tiers of glittering rhinestone gems.
Born in Paris, Marcel Boucher (French, 1898–1965) came to the United States in the 1920s as an apprentice to Pierre Cartier. By 1937, he had established his own jewelry company. Specializing in costume pieces, he became known for his daring and inventive designs, which included flowers, fruit, and animals.
