Description

The Edo period (1615-1868) in Japan saw a great flowering of the textile arts. In the late 17th century, the development of new techniques for decorating textiles spurred the production of silk throughout the country, resulting in fabrics with complex pictorial designs. Sumptuous with rich floral details, our tie pattern is derived from a beautiful 18th-century silk fragment in The Met collection.
