Description

Our bold and gleaming necklace pays homage to an impressive Egyptian girdle in The Met collection, from the tomb of Princess Sithathoryunet (Middle Kingdom, Dynasty 12, ca. 1887–1813 B.C.). The original is part of a group of five pieces of ancient jewelry made from gold and amethyst to create a set with powerful magical properties.

All of these jewelry elements focus on feline imagery, which can be related to protection and guardianship. In the religion of the ancient Egyptians, lions, leopards, or other small wildcats were often shown as female and believed to represent the "eye of Re."
