Description

Ancient Egyptian craftsmen were fortunate to have access to a wide array of materials that were used in jewelry making. Gold, silver, and semiprecious stones such as turquoise, carnelian, and amethyst were mined in Egypt and Sinai. The only commonly used gemstone that had to be imported was lapis lazuli.

Our simple, abstract earrings are based on a group of precious rosettes from the tombs of the three foreign wives of Thutmose III (New Kingdom, Dynasty 18, ca. 1479–1425 B.C.).
