Description

An art calendar inspired by The Met collection.

This small pocket calendar features a detail from the Amduat (Netherworld) papyrus (ca. 1000–945 BCE) inscribed for Gautsoshen in The Met's Egyptian Art collection. This colorful papyrus contains three scenes depicting the Duat, or netherworld, to which Gautsoshen's spirit traveled at night with the sun. The image on our calendar portrays Gautsoshen standing before the mummified figure of Osiris, king of the netherworld, and Selket, one of the four goddesses who protected the mummy.
