Where can I use my Met Store Gift Card?
Met Store Gift Cards can be used online at store.metmuseum.org, and in-store at The Met Fifth Avenue, The Met Cloisters.

Gift Cards cannot be used on Met Custom Prints.
What can Gift Cards be redeemed for? Are there any restrictions?
Gift Cards can be redeemed for Met Store merchandise, Memberships, and donations.

No, there are no charges for using Met Store Gift Cards.
Do Met Store Gift Cards expire?
Met Store Gift Cards expire five years from the date of last activity. Activity is considered a purchase using the gift card or a balance inquiry.

Returning, Reloading; Checking Balance

Can I return a Gift Card?
All Gift Card orders are nonrefundable.

If a Gift Card's balance is under $5, you can redeem it for cash at any physical Met Store location.
What if my Gift Card is lost or stolen?
If your Gift Card is lost or stolen, contact Buyatab Customer Service at themetstore@buyatab.com or call 866-870-1432.
How do I check my balance on my Met Store Gift Card?
For Gift Cards purchased after October 2025, visit https://wbiprod.storedvalue.com/wbir/clients/themet

For Gift Cards purchased before November 2025, please call 212-570-3894, or visit one of our store locations at either The Met Fifth Avenue or The Met Cloisters to speak to a sales associate.
What is a Met Store Gift Card PIN used for and where do I find it?
Your Met Store Gift Card has a Card Number and a Personal Identification Number ("PIN") associated with it.

On physical Met Store Gift Cards, the PIN can be found by scratching off the silver box located on the back of the Met Store Gift Card.

For eGift Cards, the PIN will be contained in the email in which the Met Store Gift Card is delivered.
Can I reload my gift card?
Yes, only physical Gift Cards can be reloaded at any Met Store location.
Can I get cash back or a refund if my Met Store Gift Card has a balance?
Gift Cards are nonrefundable. If your Gift Card balance is under $5, you can redeem it for cash at any physical Met Store location.

Terms & Conditions

What are the Gift Card Terms & conditions?
The Metropolitan Museum of Art Store Gift Cards can be purchased at any Met Store retail location and online. For more information on Gift Cards and to check your balance, visit store.metmuseum.org/gift-cards.

    1. Met Store Gift Cards can only be redeemed for the purchase of merchandise and Museum Memberships at Met Store locations (1000 Fifth Avenue and The Met Cloisters) and online at store.metmuseum.org.
    2. Met Store Gift Cards cannot be used for purchases made online at Met Custom Prints (customprints.metmuseum.org).
    3. Met Store Gift Cards cannot be returned or canceled after purchase.
    4. The following forms of payment can be used to purchase Met Store Gifts Cards: Mastercard, Visa, American Express, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay.
    5. Met Store Gift Cards expire five years from the date of last activity, where permissible under applicable law. Activity is considered a purchase using the gift card or a balance inquiry. Once the Gift Card has expired, The Met Store is unable to extend the expiration date and is obligated to remit the value of unredeemed Gift Cards to New York State.
    6. Protect your Met Store Gift Card; if it is lost or stolen, reach out to Buyatab Customer Service at themetstore@buyatab.com.
    7. Your balance can be viewed at any time online by visiting store.metmuseum.org/gift-cards.
    8. If the remaining balance of a Met Store Gift Card is under $5, it may be redeemed for cash at any Met Store location.
    9. If a purchase exceeds the amount of your Met Store Gift Card, you must pay the balance using another form of payment accepted by The Met Store.
    10. If you return an item purchased using a Met Store Gift Card in-store, you will receive Store Credit for the amount returned.
    11. The Met Store reserves the right to refuse, cancel, or hold Met Store Gift Cards or orders for suspected fraud, or for other violations of Met Store policies.
    12. The Met Store's normal terms and conditions apply to all purchases except where they conflict with these terms and conditions.
