Description

The timeless motif on this scarf references a cotton textile made in 19th–20th-century Iran and now in The Met collection. The original pattern boasts an ancient Persian design called the boteh, popularly known as "paisley" after the machine-woven Indian and Persian-inspired shawls produced out of Paisley, Scotland, in the 19th century. Its signature curved teardrop shape celebrates the mythological tree of life, as well as buds, cones, and palm fronds.
